She was the daughter of distinguished & eminent businessman Seth Chhajumal. She had been a patriot since her childhood towards her nation. Britishers were ruling India at that time.

She participated in many of the freedom movements too. Once she was also accused as an undercover agent by the British government.

When she was participating in the freedom movement, at the same time her father’s business was flourishing in Calcutta, though his father’s business was spread across the country. But Calcutta was the head branch or you can say the center of his business. As the business was spread in most of the parts of the country, her father thus had to travel a lot. When she was on a business trip with her father. During her travels, she also learned a few languages such as Hindi, English, and Bengali.she also traveled to many countries.

Dark Days ; Neera Arya’s Marriage

The epicenter of Seth’s life was only his business and daughter. He was neither a part of any freedom movement nor wanted his daughter to take an interest in them. Thus he got her married to an Investigation officer “Shrikant Jairanjan Das” in British India. 
Though being married, Neera and her husband continued their different ideologies. 
While Neera wanted freedom of her country from Britishers whereas her husband was working for the British government. So he was a loyal British servant.

Freedom Struggle and Azad Hind Fauz

Because of her true nationalist attitude, she ended up joining the Jhansi regiment under Azad Hind Fauz after her marriage. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the founder of this regiment. This regiment was working for the freedom movement of the country.

It was the time when Neera’s husband Jairanjan Das was ordered to spy on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, also he was ordered to assassinate him.

On the other hand, Neera was promised to be a true nationalist and save Azad Hind Fauz and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at any cost.

When her husband had fired on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, fortunately, Netaji escaped death and the bullet hit his driver.

Neera was also there. When she knew about this all, she stabbed her husband to death to save the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

But when Netaji got to know about this that she had killed her husband. He did not appreciate it. She had to surrender to the British Government for killing her husband who was also a British servant.
Her trial took place in Red fort where she was sentenced to life imprisonment.
